As I am currently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, working on a movie, in\u00a0my rare time off I have been searching\u00a0for\u00a0make-do&#8217;s in local museums. Last weekend I finally hit pay dirt.<\/p>\n<p>This past Saturday, I spent a few hours at the\u00a0spectacular\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iamm.org.my\">Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia<\/a>,\u00a0home to one of the best collections of\u00a0Islamic\u00a0decorative arts in the world. Much to my surprise and delight, the museum is filled with many stunning examples of inventive repairs.\u00a0The wide range includes silver, brass, and wood replacement lids, stems,\u00a0handles, knobs, and spouts; made in China, Europe, and the Middle East.\u00a0Strangely, I did not see\u00a0any examples of staple repair, although I bet some pieces do\u00a0exist, buried deep within their storage vaults.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of my favorite pieces and\u00a0their printed descriptions:<\/p>\n<p>Blue and white porcelain ewer, China and Persia, 17th-19th century.<\/p>\n<p><a
