This type of design, produced in China since the mid-17th century, was so popular that it was first copied in 1780 by the English potter Thomas Turner of Caughley and was mass produced as the &#8220;Willow Pattern&#8221; (aka &#8220;Blue Willow&#8221;) with transfer decoration\u00a0and sold worldwide<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4598.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3648\" title=\"IMG_4598\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4598.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4598.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4598-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today it is considered &#8220;America&#8217;s favorite patterned ware\u201d\u00a0and can be found in the wealthiest homes and roadside diners alike<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4605.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3649\" title=\"IMG_4605\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4605.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4605.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4605-300x270.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Teapot measures 4-3\/4&#8243; tall and is nearly 10&#8243; wide, from tip of the spout to the end of the replacement handle<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4597.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3650\" title=\"IMG_4597\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4597.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"279\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4597.jpg 399w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4597-300x209.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A tinsmith came to the aid of the distraught original owner of the broken teapot and created an elaborate replacement handle.
