{"id":3708,"date":"2011-01-05T16:14:37","date_gmt":"2011-01-05T21:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/andrewbaseman.com\/blog\/?p=3708"},"modified":"2011-01-05T16:14:37","modified_gmt":"2011-01-05T21:14:37","slug":"richard-ginori-broken-dinnerware","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/?p=3708","title":{"rendered":"Richard Ginori &#8220;Broken&#8221; Dinnerware"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I visited the NYC showroom of porcelain manufacturer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardginori1735.com\/\">Richard Ginori<\/a>, founded in Italy by Florentine Marquis Carlo Ginori\u00a0in 1735, and home to hundreds of stunning, colorful patterns. But what I was most drawn to was a line of dinnerware ironically named &#8220;Broken&#8221;,\u00a0the least colorful dishes in the showroom. This ingenious collection of 14 pieces was designed in 2010 by architect and product designer Paola Navone. Each of these stark white\u00a0porcelain pieces features printed cracks &#8220;repaired&#8221; with trompe l&#8217;oeil metal staples. Wouldn&#8217;t it be wonderful to have a repaired &#8220;Broken&#8221; plate with actual metal staples?
