It measures 6 inches high\u00a0and 8.5 inches from handle to spout. The original pewter lid, which looks like a replacement, is actually original to the piece. I feel that the staple repairs on this teapot enhance the design, as they follow the same graceful line of the raised bent bamboo decoration and the staples mimic the horizontal nodes along the vertical cracks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6721.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5069\" title=\"IMG_6721\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6721.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6721.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6721-300x228.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Copeland firm, operated by William Taylor Copeland in Staffordshire,\u00a0called the parian finish &#8220;statuary porcelain&#8221; because of its resemblance to the fine white marble of neoclassical sculpture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6723.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5070\" title=\"IMG_6723\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6723.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6723.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6723-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are four staple repairs on each side of the teapot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6725.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5071\" title=\"IMG_6725\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6725.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6725.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6725-300x228.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The underside of the teapot reveals an incised COPELAND mark and British registry mark in relief, dating this piece to 1874.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6728.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5072\" title=\"IMG_6728\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6728.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6728.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6728-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This &#8220;perfect&#8221; teapot is without staple repairs and has an ornate pewter lid.
