Sauceboats (aka gravy boats) were part of larger dinner services, exported to North America and Europe and snatched up by wealthy customers eager to display in their china cabinets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9909.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6076\" title=\"IMG_9909\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9909.jpg\" width=\"399\" height=\"268\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9909.jpg 399w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9909-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A skillful hand decorated the gravy boat with polychrome enamel flowers and an iron red border with gilt detailing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9911.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6077\" title=\"IMG_9911\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9911.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9911.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9911-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Even the interior is painted with peony flowers and a blue zig zag fence, visible once the last bit of gravy has been consumed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9914.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_9914\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9914.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The broken handle has been replaced with an ingenious solid silver removable replacement, held together with screws and hinges.
