{"id":9751,"date":"2015-01-24T12:13:16","date_gmt":"2015-01-24T17:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/andrewbaseman.com\/blog\/?p=9751"},"modified":"2015-01-24T12:13:16","modified_gmt":"2015-01-24T17:13:16","slug":"the-new-york-ceramics-glass-fair-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/?p=9751","title":{"rendered":"The New York Ceramics &#038; Glass Fair, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Each year I look forward to attending the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorkceramicsandglassfair.com\">New York Ceramics &amp; Glass Fair<\/a> at Bohemian National Hall, for me the highlight of\u00a0New York&#8217;s Winter Antiques Week. This year the fair has expanded to three floors of exhibition space, including more glassware and contemporary pieces than\u00a0ever before. I enjoyed seeing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.martynedgell.com\">Martyn Edgell<\/a>\u00a0and his booth chock full of colorful English ceramics, including shelves of dazzling\u00a0mocha ware pottery. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antieketegels.nl\">Leon-Paul van Geenen<\/a> was back this year with a few\u00a0examples with early repairs, as well as white Delft pottery, many pieces included in\u00a0his\u00a0recently published book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antieketegels.nl\">Delfts Wit<\/a>.\u00a0A handful of early white plates were give a modern spin on Japanese Kintsugi repair, done by artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boukedevries.com\">Bouke de Vries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7903-Version-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9753\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7903-Version-2.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7903 - Version 2\" width=\"400\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7896-Version-2.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7896-Version-2-300x234.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Leslie Ferrin of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ferrincontemporary.com\">Ferrin Contemporary<\/a> had two booths of fine ceramics\u00a0by leading international contemporary artists, including <a href=\"http:\/\/ferrincontemporary.com\/portfolio-items\/vipoo-srivilasa\/\">Vipoo Srivilasa<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/ferrincontemporary.com\/portfolio-items\/sin-ying-ho\/\">Sin-ying Ho<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/ferrincontemporary.com\/portfolio-items\/stephen-bowers\/\">Stephen Bowers<\/a>, as well as modern examples incorporating\u00a0inventive repair, which I was especially drawn to. <a href=\"http:\/\/ferrincontemporary.com\/portfolio-items\/paul-scott\/\">Paul Scott<\/a>, an English artist,\u00a0has done extensive research and has published articles on the fascinating subject of early staple repair, incorporating it into much of his work. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.francespalmerpottery.com\">Francis Palmer<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ferrincontemporary.com\/portfolio-items\/mara-superior\/\">Mara Superior<\/a> showed large vessels\u00a0with\u00a0Kintsugi repair and\u00a0faux staples, making their pieces even more unique.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_79231.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9757\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_79231.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7923\" width=\"400\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_79231.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_79231-300x248.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9756\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7916.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7916\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7916.jpg 400w, http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7916-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7914-Version-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9755\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.andrewbaseman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7914-Version-2.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7914 -
